MFA Oil Company Acquires Smoky Mountain Propane

Columbia, Missouri – MFA Oil Company, a farmer-owned cooperative based in Columbia, MO, has acquired Smoky Mountain Propane based in Sylva, North Carolina. Smoky Mountain Propane has been in operation for 12 years and was owned and operated by Darrell and Lisa Pruett.
“Smoky Mountain Propane is a quality acquisition in a new market territory,” says Mark Fenner, chief operating officer of MFA Oil. “The Pruetts have built a nice business based on providing value to their customers, and this fits really well with our new strategic direction to grow our operations and expand the MFA Oil footprint.”
The Smoky Mountain Propane operation will continue to service the Jackson, Swain and Franklin counties in North Carolina. Darrell Pruett will manage the operation and the current drivers will also be employed by MFA Oil.
This is the sixth acquisition for MFA Oil since January. MFA Oil acquired Henderson Oil, Columbia, MO; McCorkell Oil, Piedmont, MO; Rowland Oil, Jackson, MO, the refined fuel operations of MFA Cooperative, Freeburg, MO, and American Petroleum Marketers, Bonner Springs, KS. These six acquisitions increase MFA Oil’s annual volume by nearly 51 million gallons.
