MFA Oil Company Announces Acquisition of Brownfield Oil Company
April 11, 2016
MFA Oil Company announces it has acquired Brownfield Oil Company, a refined fuels and lubricants supplier based in Moberly, Mo. The purchase includes a Sinclair gas station in Shelbina, Mo. and a Sinclair cardlock fueling facility in Kirksville, Mo.
“This acquisition made a lot of sense for our company,” says Don Smith, MFA Oil director of mergers and acquisitions. “Besides adding a significant amount of fuel volume to our operations, it will allow us to better serve our mid-Missouri customers by greatly improving our operating efficiencies.”
The Brownfield Oil purchase will provide substantial growth to APM, MFA Oil’s wholesale petroleum distribution division. APM provides a broad spectrum of quality fuel products to retail and convenience stores across the Midwest. Through this acquisition, APM will add Sinclair fuels and branding options to its offerings.
Brownfield Oil was founded in 1971 by Robert Brownfield. Since 1990, Matt Brownfield has overseen the growth and expansion of the company. Throughout the company’s 45 years of operation it has provided fuel and lubricants, branding options and transportation services to customers throughout northern Missouri. Brownfield Oil will retain its transportation services business and some staff as part of the deal. The remaining employees will join the MFA Oil team.
“I would like to thank all my customers for their business and loyalty through the years,” says Matt Brownfield, Brownfield Oil president. “This decision would not have been made unless I was confident MFA Oil would take excellent care of them moving forward.”
This is MFA Oil’s fifth acquisition of its fiscal year, which began September 1, 2015. Previous acquisitions include Lybarger Oil, Inc. in Garnett, Kan.; Elaine Petroleum Distribution, Inc. in Elaine, Ark.; R&S Propane, Inc. in Dibble, Okla; and S&S Oil and Propane Company Inc. in Emporia, Kan.
The company plans to continue evaluating acquisition opportunities in its existing market area and other states where it can expand its footprint.
