MFA Oil Company, a farmer-owned energy supply cooperative, has acquired the refined fuel operations of Rock Port Oil Company, an independent retailer based in Rock Port, Mo. The acquisition closed on August 8.
“Rock Port Oil has a well-earned reputation for outstanding customer care and we are eager to build upon its success,” says Jon Ihler, MFA Oil vice president of sales and marketing. “We share the same small-town values as Rock Port Oil and plan to carry on the tradition of exceptional service and quality.”
Rock Port Oil Company has been in business since the 1920s and has been owned by the Bunton family since 1950.
“Our family has been honored with the privilege of serving Northwest Missouri for so many years and I am confident this transition will meet the needs of our community while upholding the same level of service and commitment to our customers,” says Bill Bunton, president of Rock Port Oil.
The Buntons will retain ownership of their automotive service station located on Main Street in Rock Port which remains open for business.
This is the eighth acquisition of MFA Oil’s 2018 fiscal year, which began September 1, 2017. Earlier in the year, the company added Callaway Propane LLC of Fulton, Mo.; Raines Oil Co. of Senath, Mo.; Cardie Oil, Inc., of Tampa, Kan.; the propane operations of George’s Gas Co. of Springdale, Ark.; the propane operations of Rolla Farmer’s Exchange of Rolla, Mo.; and the propane and farm fuel operations of Frazier Oil & LP Gas Company, Inc., of Gower, Mo.
MFA Oil will continue to evaluate strategic acquisition opportunities in its existing market areas and other regions where it can expand its footprint.
