Ukraine Hits Another Russian Refinery

Ukraine has made another attack on a Russian refinery. It was Russia’s third largest refinery about 800 miles from the front lines of the fighting in Ukraine. The strike hit the refinery’s main crude unit responsible for about half its production. Locals have said production was not severely impacted by this strike. A recent estimate had already had Russian refinery output down 14% due to attacks.
These comments by Patrick De Hann were made prior to the above news of another strike. Patrick De Hann, petroleum analyst at GasBuddy.com said gasoline prices for US motorist could increase by as much as 15 cents per gallon, with global fuel supplies tighter after Ukraine’s recent attacks on Russian refineries.
Iran is saying that Israel struck the Iranian consulate in Syria and seven were killed with one of them being a top general of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Iran has vowed to retaliate against Israel.
WTI crude oil futures have traded above $85 for the first time since October.
The OPEC+ bimonthly joint ministerial committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow April 3rd to review markets and their fulfillment of obligations regarding output cuts extended through June.
