The U.S. Department of Agriculture defines a cooperative as “a user-owned, user-controlled business that distributes benefits on the basis of use.” MFA Oil is a farmer-owned cooperative, which means the farmers who buy our products to fuel their farm operations own MFA Oil. We currently have more than 40,000 farmer (member) owners.
Our members govern the company by voting for delegates at annual bulk plant meetings each fall. Those delegates, in turn, elect an eight-member board of directors to establish company policy and set operating guidelines. In addition to electing delegates to represent them, members earn patronage dividends based on their purchases from MFA Oil refined oil and propane plants and Petro-Card 24 sites.
